HAMMOCK

TTTM Interaction with Others

Use your hammock to find secluded sites far from the beaten path where you will not encounter others. Use your imagination to find scenic sites unknown and unused by others. In most forested areas, your imagination is your only limitation.
I have conveniently camped in the forest near the edge of towns so I could easily walk into town early the next morning.

Out of the way and out of sight, no one knew I was there, although I was nearby. At other times, I have camped deep in the forest at spots visited only by birds and animals. At these sites far from the beaten path, it's amazing how casual and undisturbed animals are by my presence.

Always abide by any posted camping restrictions, even though they are obviously directed toward tent campers. Many government and private lands have such restrictions, which vary from area to area. Areas posted with "No Trespassing" or "No Camping" signs are also off limits to hammock campers. One of the greatest promises of the Leave No Trace program is the concept that each wilderness user sets an example for others to follow. Be sure your outdoor activities set the right example.
